Grief can be especially overwhelming for children. This gentle, equine-assisted program supports children
aged 7 to 11 as they process loss through meaningful connection.
Offered through a unique collaboration between Shining Horizons and NB Copes, the program blends the emotional wisdom of horses with the clinical support of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), a Registered Social Worker (RSW), and experienced Equine Specialists. Together, we provide a safe, supportive space where children can explore their feelings, rebuild trust, and begin to heal.
Horses are calm, intuitive companions, especially comforting when words are hard to find. Through guided, ground-based activities (no riding), children develop emotional awareness, resilience, and a sense of connection - at their own pace. This program is ideal for children coping with the loss of a loved one.
When life feels too heavy with grief,
a horse can help carry what’s hard to hold alone.
