Funding support

Funding support

for your child

You don't have to wait for a program opening to explore funding. Find out where to apply, what you need, and how to get started.

Supporting a child with physical, cognitive or mental health challenges can bring additional responsibilities and demands for families. Navigating funding systems and accessing the right services can be challenging, especially when you are already managing so much.

How to Access Program Funding

At Shining Horizons, we want parents to have the information they need to navigate the funding process and advocate for their child.

Funding may be available through Social Development to help cover eligible program costs for participants up to 18 years of age. Our practical guide explains how to get started, what to discuss when contacting Social Development, and how to communicate your child’s individual needs, strengths and abilities, and how our programs may benefit their development, well-being and quality of life.

Many of our participants receive Social Development funding. Parents who have successfully secured funding often emphasize the importance of persistence and follow-up. The process can take time, so we encourage families to start early, ideally as soon as they register and join our waiting list.

You know your child best. Our guide will help you explain their needs and how participation at Shining Horizons may make a positive difference in their life.
