Shining Horizons has been such a helpful program
for some of the children I have been seeing in my Physiotherapy practise.
I’ve had the pleasure of attending a few sessions and have been impressed with the welcoming environment for families.
The young riders I have suggested the program to, have enjoyed and benefited from the opportunities presented to them. I see improvements in core activation and strengthening as well as improved hip movement. It is a fun environment to work on balance skills and provide a developing brain with a variety of “flavours of movement”.
The children work so hard physically and do not notice the effort they are putting into their session. They have been very excited to be in the presence of horses and are willing to try new skills which may seem daunting without the horse.
Having the simulator is such an amazing opportunity for children to build skills and confidence to best set them up for quality movement skills on and off the horse.
It is lovely to see the children following a
block of riding as many have built confidence, strength and novel movement skills. I love having the children come into their Physiotherapy sessions following a ride and have them recount stories about their interactions with the various horses and
seeing their pride as they recount achievements and adventures with “their horse”.
I am grateful to have the Shining Horizon’s Program in our community. Thank you for the terrific work you do!
